-Literally everyone in the focus group are still in education and most people in this age group don’t have a job or if they do it’s a part time low skilled job. This places them C-E demographically which suggests they don’t have as much money to spend
-A lot of people in this focus group don’t buy music magazines because they cost too much and a lot wouldn't pay more than £2 for a music magazine, this suggests I should keep my prices low in order to persuade them to buy it.
-A lot of these people would be interested in buying a music magazine if it covered a larger range of artists or had free things in it like posters included. In my magazine I could include free posters advertised on the front cover and make sure my magazine covers a range of artists within my genre
-A lot of people would like to buy a weekly magazine to keep up with the recent gossip however a lot of people are put of the idea due to its cost. To cater this age group I will make weekly magazines at a cheaper cost that others like ‘NME’ in order to persuade them to but it.
-A lot of people who are into my genre of music magazine - mainstream pop like artists like - Marcus Collins, Paloma Faith, Florence + the machine, Marina and the diamonds, the lovable rogues and Olly Murs however I may need to cater to other artists they have suggested like Plan B, Amelia Lilly, Maroon 5, Scouting for Girls and Cold Play in order to appeal to a wider range of target audience and Fans that are interested in my music magazines genre of music
-I also found that a lot of people who are interested in more modern and indie mainstream pop are also interested in Reality Shows - Especially the X-factor and BGT. I could make reference to what’s happening to the new up and coming artists in these reality shows that particular week, even where they are after the shows finished in order to make my magazine more appealing to my target audience.
-Most people in this age group use social networking sights too - especially Facebook and Twitter. I could make references to these sights in my magazine to give it a more modern, young vibe. I could use things like hash tags, give my brand a Facebook and twitter page, reference artists tweets and pages too to make it more appealing and relevant to my target audience. This could also increase the popularity of my music magazine as the more people who tweet and Facebook about it, the more people will hear about it thus the more people will be encouraged to buy it and follow the trend.
-The majority of peoples favourite radio station was Capital FM, it would be useful to mention its radio shows and top played artists within my magazine in order to appeal to this age group and target audiences interests. Another idea I could also make my magazine one that is popular by perhaps having a partnership with Capital or displaying quotes and articles from this radio show.
-When determining the typical interests of my target audience, I found that a lot of people in this age group who enjoyed mainstream modern and indie pop mainly also enjoy comedies rom-coms, action films and animated films too. They also predominantly enjoy American Comedies, Reality Shows and TV Dramas. With the majority of my target audiences interests including sports, Arts, Partying, having fun and most dominantly Music!
-I found that the majority of people in this focus group would like to see a colour scheme that’s fitting with its genre and lots of live and exclusive images of the artists. I will incorporate these ideas into my music magazine as I also think this will be effective. Also when taking my photos and adding descriptions I will make them seem as if they are live or exclusive shots in order to appeal to the interests of my target audience and make my magazine stand out from its completion - like NME, SPIN and Q. Colours fitting with my genre would be bold colours like red and contrasting colours like black and white to make it stand out.(perhaps have a unique colour to my particular brand - conventional.)
-When choosing what kids of articles and features to put in my magazine I will consider and include things my focus group suggested. These wee things such as exclusive images and articles about top chart artists, tour/festival dates, including freebies like posters, new up and coming artists, exclusive gossip about artists personal lives and news on reality programs. By including these things I will appeal to the things my target audience(age group, music enthusiast, those into mainstream, modern and indie pop) are interested in and thus encourage them to buy it. These ideas for features and things to include will help form and structure an effective front page, contents page and double page spread of my music magazine, hopefully encouraging and enticing my target audience into starting to buy this music magazine. (Therefore a popular magazine would gain investments in other company’s advertisements too- generating an overall larger amount of profit.)
